76th Annual Northern Teachers’ McGown Workshop Rug Show!
The 76th Annual Hooked Rug Show for the Northern Teachers’ McGown Workshop will be taking place on July 22nd, from 12 noon to 7pm, at the Publick House, located at 277 Main Street, in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. This event is free to attend and open to the public. There is ample free parking behind the restaurant building, the rug show itself, is in the tent next to the parking lot. We had a beautiful day for our June field trip to York, ME. We started our day at the Old York Historical Library and Archives, where we got to see, touch, and hear about some older hooked pieces they have. We then proceeded to a member’s home to sit outside and at the barn and in the gardens. Some Seacoast Ruggers joined us. Beautiful day to hook and caught up with old friends! Norine Bucknell, who was an early and long-time member of Tin Pedlars passed away in May. Norine was both a prolific and talented hooker, especially with narrow cuts. She was an officer in a few different positions in Tin Pedlars until the early 1990’s. Tin Pedlar honored her as a featured member back in 2008 at the Portland rug show at Woodford’s Congregational Church. Norine was a great teacher of beginners in the Cornish area as well as very generous with her time to help anyone that needed it. She attended many rug schools from Sebago…
